The Sâkêwêwak Annual Storyteller’s Festival is a community based, multidisciplinary arts showcase featuring Indigenous artists. During this annual event, many Indigenous artists are invited to participate as an opportunity to share their diverse artistic practices with the Regina community.
The 2022 Storytellers Festival was a memorable weekend of representation that Indigenous people typically do not see. It was a weekend of being able to come together and support and witness talented Indigenous artists who struck the audience with amazement. The laughter, tears, and raw emotions that the artist pulled out uncovered a bond as Indigenous people that we never sought to look for. The knowledge that was passed on to Indigenous and non-Indigenous folk embraced the community with open arms and introduced the Regina artists scene to all new culture and valuable experiences.
