Programming & Outreach Coordinator

One year contract (pending renewal with funding) June 2023-June 2024
$32,000.00 annual salary.
This role will have the opportunity to engage in paid training opportunities to succeed in this role, as well as professional development training related to governance, and wise practices for Indigenous people in the non-profit sector. Reporting to the Artistic Director and Board of Directors (BOD), the Programming and Outreach Coordinator supports all aspects of Sâkêwêwak’s programming and some general day-to-day operations, providing excellent in-office support to a small and passionate team. Working with Sâkêwêwak’s Artistic Director and Administrator, a main priority of the Programming and Outreach Coordinator is to maintain the integrity of programming: keeping updated project budgets, and prepare statistical reports and record keeping. The Programming and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of regular programming. The Programming and Outreach Coordinator also plays a crucial role in fostering positive relationships with Sâkêwêwak membership and wider community.
The Programming and Outreach Coordinator/Residency employee will be required to upkeep regular in-person office hours. Additionally, may at times be required to assist with programming occurring off-site, outside of regular office hours, such as during the Annual Storytellers Festival, and other workshops, and events.
Additional hours (up to 35 hours/week) required during February due to Sâkêwêwak’s Annual Storytelling Festival. The office will close for a week following the Storytellers festival, recognizing the additional labour that the Storytellers season requires, and giving the whole staff a week to rest.
DUTIES OF THE OFFICE Programming and Outreach Coordinator
Programs 50%

Supervises programs, hosting events when necessary, and coordinates staffing schedules for program coverage, when necessary.

Communicate with participants and public with up-to-date information on events

Assists the Artistic Director in developing and implementing community/member workshops, programs and youth activities.

Coordinate developed programs: Next Wave, Opulence: We Bead Everything, and Art Crawl with programming support from Summer student.

Plan and execute member engagement events throughout the year, with a focus on the summer season, and Art Crawl member events

Work with partners and collaborators to strengthen programming

Support and coordinate with the Festival Curator to determine additional programming for the festival weekend.
Outreach – 20%

Assist in preparing correspondences with Sâkêwêwak audiences;

Maintain accurate membership lists, monthly updates to the administrator to deliver renewal notices.

Assists in recruiting, training and coordination of event volunteers

Take lead on the coordination of partner events, approved by both Programming/Outreach and the Artistic Director.

Liaises with artists to collect and share information about upcoming events with various departments (marketing, accounting)

Working with the Artistic Director, develop through conversations, community outreach/consultation plans.

Coordinates collaboration opportunities with other organizations.
Social Media/Website 10%

Upload documentation from events to wordpress website

Select and edit as necessary documentation to share on social media accounts

Create and Schedule posts for public viewing on social media

Support and maintain visual branding of organization

Produce press releases and maintain up-to-date media list for exhibition/program promotion
Admin 20%

Collaborates with the staff to best communicate about our programming and tell stories of our programs including assisting with the writing, editing and curation of programming descriptions, and where relevant promotional copy, donor communications, final reports and evaluation of programs.

Developing and implementing outreach strategies and encouraging collaborations with Indigenous groups and other diverse community groups

Seeks out possible funding opportunities for existing programs and develops programs to meet new funding opportunities.

Analyzes post-event surveys with other staff with an eye to continuous improvement and tracking.

Engage with research and training on Decolonization, Diversity and Equity alongside Sakewewak staff and Board

Attends networking events, performances and events, building relationships with our community and stakeholders.
Wages and Deductions
SFNAC agrees to pay the Programming and Outreach Coordinator, for their work, with a salary in the amount of $32,000 per annum.
Wages shall be paid at regular Bi-Weekly intervals. Pay periods for all employees will be on the 15th and the last day of each month.
Benefits
Benefits will be available after 90 days of full-time employment.
Vacation
The Programming and Outreach Coordinator shall be entitled to fifteen (15) working days of paid vacation, prorated. All statutory holidays, including the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation and Indigenous Peoples’ Day shall be observed by SFNAC.
